Week 38

It has been an amazing 38 weeks in Room 112!

The amazing first grade readers are sounding like reading stars! They are solving tricky words and reading like fluent readers. This week we opened up the Room 112 recording studio, where the kiddos are getting a chance to record audiobooks for the kindergartners. It is so exciting to see and hear all of the growth they have made!

In writing, we have been revising and publishing our persuasive writing! I love getting to hear their voices in their writing! They are working hard and are incredibly convincing!

We had two very special visitors on Thursday! We had Officer Bryan (Ava's dad) and his police dog, Chase, come visit Room 112. The kiddos got to learn all about the job of a policeman and a K-9 police dog!

The entomologists have gotten to see the complete metamorphosis of our meal worm larvae! Some students now have darkling beetles crawling around in their study vials :)

Week 37

It was a short but busy week!

The first grade farmers had a great time at Plumper Pumpkin Farm! They got to learn about bees, plant pumpkin seeds, go on a hayride and see lots of animals! A HUGE thank you to the parent chaperones -- the field trip would not have been possible without you!

As we continue our study of insects, the entomologists are learning about and witnessing the life cycle of an insect. We even have some larvae that have transformed into pupas!
